These Sparkly Marshmallow Hearts are quick and easy, super cute decorations for your cakes and cupcakes! I used Jet-Puffed Stacker Mallows, which are rectangle-shaped marshmallows made for making S’mores. I found them at my local supermarket, but I’ve also seen them at major discount super stores. I used heart-shaped cutters in sizes, 1-inch, 1 1/8-inch and 1 1/4-inch wide. I made the larger ones into cake and cupcake toppers and used the smaller ones without toothpicks to embellish the sides of my cakes. I used a mixture of three parts corn syrup to one part water as the glue to adhere the sparkling sugar to the marshmallows, i.e. 1 tablespoon corn syrup mixed with 1 teaspoon water.
To make Sparkly Marshmallow Hearts, you’ll need:
- Jet-Puffed Stacker Mallows
- small heart-shaped cutters
- toothpicks (if using)
- 3:1 ratio corn syrup-water mixture
- small food safe paintbrush
- sparkling sugar (any color)
Cut heart shapes out of Stacker Mallows using heart-shaped cutters. (Don’t throw away the scraps. Save them for snacking or chop them up to float in hot cocoa or toss into a fruit salad.)
Insert toothpicks into marshmallow hearts if making toppers. You can skip this step if you want to place the hearts directly on the tops or sides of your cakes.
Brush a thin coating of corn syrup-water mixture on the hearts. Press the hearts lightly into sparkling sugar.
Happy decorating!
