Crumb Topping
- In a medium-size bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar and salt until well combined. Work the butter into the flour mixture with your fingertips until it looks like wet sand with no large chunks of butter. Press the mixture together to form chunks. Set aside in the refrigerator while you make the cookie dough.
Icing
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, salt, lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of orange juice until well combined. Add additional orange juice as needed to achieve your desired consistency. Whisk until smooth. Drizzle the icing over the cooled cookies.
hard to find the recipe
Hi Gigi, it’s odd that you had trouble finding this recipe. From a mobile device, one of the first things you’ll notice on my website at the top of the page is an icon with three lines. This is a standard menu icon which many websites use. If you tap on it, you’ll see a menu which gives you a navigation list. One of those is RECIPE LIST, which is an alphabetical list of all of the recipes on my website. Also this recipe is the very first article on my website landing page. If you read the first two sentences, it says “read more”, which, if you tap on it takes you to the recipe. You can also tap on the title above the photo to take you to the recipe. It’s also the most recent blog post. In addition to that, I have a search tool which can be found on the sidebar if you’re on a computer or at the bottom of the page if you’re on a phone. With the search tool, you can search by name, ingredient or category. Additionally, the full recipe is written in the caption of the Instagram video. I have gone above and beyond to give people access to the recipes I share for free. You may also notice this is an ad-free website, which means you don’t have to be bothered with ads or pop-ups. Thank you for taking time out of your day to share your complaint.
I baked these cake cookies today, and wow! The cookie is like a soft shortbread cookie, the kind that melts in your mouth good. I did add a few more white chocolate chips, and added several dried cranberries into the well of the cookie before baking. Excellent flavor combinations for a delicious holiday cookie!!
Hi Linda, I’m so glad you enjoyed the cookies. Thanks so much for stopping by to let me know!
I can’t wait to make these cookies as a treat for teachers! 💕I also found the recipe within 30 seconds of finding the TikTok reel. Super easy website to navigate.
Hi Jaclyn, I’m glad you were able to find the recipe easily. I hope you enjoy the recipe!
Can I use a preserve such as raspberry or blackberry vs. the cranberry sauce?
Hi Sandy! Yes you can use the jam or preserves of your choice. Blackberry would pair especially well with the orange zest.
Thank you so much for sharing. I can hardly wait to bake these cookies. They look and sound scrumptious
Hi Jo, I hope you enjoy the cookies. Thanks for stopping by!
The dough is incredibly sticky, it’s impossible to scoop and roll into a ball and make an indentation.
Hi Felecia, it sounds like something went wrong for you. Many people have had success with this recipe. If the recipe is followed exactly the dough should not be sticky. Perhaps your butter was too warm. In that case you can chill your dough in the refrigerator until the butter firms up a bit, making the dough easier to work with. Perhaps you didn’t weigh your ingredients. Flour is tricky to measure with a measuring cup. Too little flour can make your dough sticky.
I made these a couple of weeks ago and the were wonderful. They turned onto my daughters favorite and she is a very picky eater. I love the cranberry orange. Last Saturday I was wanting to make these but didn’t have any fresh cranberries so I decided to use a meyer lemon curd. They turned out fantastic. Almost as good as the cranberry orange. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!!
Hello friend! I’m so glad you and your daughter enjoyed the recipe! The lemon version sounds so delicious, I’ll give that try also. Thanks so much for stopping by to let me know.
